Phoenix Trip (Aug 19 -27, 2011)

Our big family trip this year was down to Phoenix to spend a week just relaxing, resting and visiting all our wonderful AZ friends!  Mission accomplished, we had such a great time!!  Right before we moved home to Colorado, my in-laws bought a second home down in Glendale, literally just blocks from where Taylor and I lived for the majority of the time we lived there.  It is amazing, has a great ranch style layout which Lia loves running around in and a fabulous pool out back!!  We love going to visit, it's just usually a matter of logistics of getting all of us down there.

We left Friday night after work.  This was Lia's first trip since she turned 2, which means the first time she had her own seat on the airplane.   It was nice having a whole row to ourselves!! Lia did really well, kind of anxious and wanting to climb all over, but other than that, great! :)

Phoenix had record heat all week long- usually 110 and above, two days reaching 117!!  So hot but so wonderful too!  The nights were amazing!

Lia's Grandma flew down ahead of us and had a car ready to go so we went straight to In N' Out burger when we got in.  Mmmmmmm!!

Saturday we went to Stacey's nephew, Jason's, birthday party at Jambo Park.  Lia was really shy and very overwhelmed but it was still so much fun to see Jason and Stacey's daughter Emily and how much they have grown!!

Then Saturday night, Grandma babysat so that we could go out to dinner and drinks with our friends and actually stay out past 8 PM.  Thank you Elizabeth!!

We had a fabulous night!  Started out at Grimaldi's Pizza in Scottsdale with Stacey and Sean, Niki and Elizabeth and TC.  It was so yummy!! We all ordered way too much pizza!

After dinner, Stacey and Sean had to go home to relieve their sitter and Liz, Niki, TC, Taylor and I went to the new Sandbar @ Desert Ridge in Scottsdale.   It was really strange being in a hip bar on a Saturday night as a married Mommy, but super fun to people watch!  We had a great time just talking, listening to music and watching everyone around us.

Sunday, Stacey and Sean had a bbq for us and our friends.  Again, just another great day with great friends!! I didn't bring my camera over, so I don't have any pics but we had an amazing time just hanging out.

Most days were spent just relaxing at the house and going places we don't get to go to in Denver such as Trader Joe's and Delux Burger.  We spent a lot of time with my friend Nicole and her baby Anthony as she is a stay at home Mommy so was able to hang out with us everyday.

We love Tony!!

We spent a ton of time in the pool... both with Lia and again when she was napping.  With temps over 110 it was the only place to be!

Wednesday we decided to go to the Phoenix Children's Museum with Nik and her little guy Anthony.  The kids LOVED it.  There was so much to do and see!! I could easily go back there many, many times to watch Lia just enjoying playing with all the activities they have.

Stacey, Emily and Shane came over for dinner one night.  Emily is so great with the little kids and Lia loves her so much!!  I wish we could see them more!!  It is so hard living away from them.

Lia seemed immune to the heat.  She loved being outside and walking around and just exploring.

On Friday, Taylor and I took Lia to a little aquarium we read about in Tempe at the Arizona Mills Mall.  It is pretty small, but perfect for a 2 year old with a short attention span.  Lia really liked touching the starfish (whose leg I really thought she may rip off) and seeing the sharks.

We had a little meltdown towards the end of the tour... but nothing that a trip to the gift shop couldn't fix.  And now, we have one happy little girl with her new "pet" Turtle. (that is his name)

Dinner w/ Stacey, Sean and Shane for some Mexican on Friday was tons of fun... here is Lia being silly playing with Stacey's sunglasses.

Saturday we cleaned, did laundry and Niki and Anthony came over to play a bit and say bye and we all went and enjoyed lunch one last time at my beloved In N Out!  HA!   Mmmmmm, I miss it already!

Then Saturday afternoon we flew back home.  Lia did even better this flight (although Mama didn't... super bumpy and scary for me!)  Here are a few cute pics we snapped on the plane.

Can't wait to visit again soon!  Love and miss all our AZ friends/family! xoxoxox
